Media Coverage

ScrapHouse benefited greatly from extensive media coverage throughout the Bay Area and around the world. In addition to the unique concept of ScrapHouse, much of this attention can be credited to the media frenzy surrounding World Environment Day 2005, for which San Francisco served as host.

ScrapHouse representatives were interviewed or profiled on an array of Bay Area radio and TV stations and also in print and online publications. The San Francisco Chronicle published a photo of ScrapHouse under construction on the front page of its Sunday, May 29 issue as well as an article in the Saturday, June 4 issue.

Television coverage included live and taped spots on at least four stations, including ABC 7 News (KGO-TV/DT), CBS 5 (KPIX), Fox 2 (KTVU), and NBC 11 (KNTV) as well as SFGTV.

Radio coverage included spots on National Public Radio, Living on Earth, and KMRW 90.5FM in Point Reyes Station, Calif.

Online coverage included articles or publicity on Archinect.com, ArchNewsNow.com, ArchVoices.org, Craigslist.org, GreenBuildingPages.com, Iconoclast.ca, InHabitat.com, LaughingSquid.com, Living on Earth, SFMetroBlog.com, Socketsite.com, SpaceDaily.com, Voice of America News, and Yahoo! News.

Forthcoming Documentary

The idea of ScrapHouse was conceived by Emmy award-winning documentary filmmaker, Anna Fitch. Fitch and her company, Building 39 Films, captured every step of the way for a forthcoming documentary.
