What is ScrapHouse?

    ScrapHouse was a single-family, demonstration house, built entirely with scrap and salvaged materials.

When was ScrapHouse open to the public?
    ScrapHouse was open to the public from Thursday, June 2 through Sunday, June 5, 2005, in conjunction with World Environment Day 2005

Where was ScrapHouse located?
    On Civic Center Plaza, immediately across the street from San Francisco City Hall, at the corner of Grove St. and Polk.

Who built it?
    ScrapHouse was designed and constructed by a rockstar team of local artists, engineers, architects, city officials, and builders.

How big was ScrapHouse?
    The house itself was approximately 1,000 square feet. At its highest point, the house was 22 feet tall, accomodating a second-story mezzanine bedroom.

What happened to ScrapHouse after June 5?
    ScrapHouse was disassembled and returned in part to local salvage yards as well as the San Francisco Recycling Center where much of the material originated.

Why wasn't ScrapHouse relocated?
    ScrapHouse was conceived and built as an experimental demonstration house. Future iterations of this project, if any, will be built on a more permanent site.
